The Graduate School offers world-class postgraduate education and training to doctoral students registered in SUPA departments. 540 students currently take classes under the curriculum, with around 150 students joining the programme each year.
Each year the Graduate School runs a SUPA Prize PhD Studentship competition, which sees hundreds of applications from many countries. Click here to visit the SUPA Prize Studentship competition page. The SUPA member departments also run taught MSc courses.
PhD Students are expected to take 40 hours of technical training and 20 hours of core skills training, at a minimum, during the first two years of their study. Click here for further course information and here for the current timetable.
The Graduate School also provides funding to support events and visits by distinguished visitors.
To all SUPA academics and researchers –
If you are working with a company anywhere in the world, or you would like to work with a particular company, the placement scheme may be a route to establishing formal engagement. You, or one of your junior associates, can receive funding to work at the company’s premises for 6 months, fully funded.
The application must come from the company so if this is interest to you, please talk to the company and see if there is the possibility of making an application.
The second call is launched today with a closing date of 31st August 2013. Please see pdf / doc for more details.
SUPA KT’s mission is to increase commercial engagement between SUPA and industry. This will generate revenue for SUPA and will allow commercial exploitation of research to the benefit of the economy of Scotland and beyond.
We have a number of case studies where SUPA research has benefitted our industrial partners.
SUPA has four mechanisms to help companies work with SUPA researchers: SUPA KT has also examined the current needs and future opportunity for commercial engagement in three Market Sector reviews in Defence and Security, the Life Sciences and Medical Imaging.
