Knowledge Exchange

Blue laserSUPA’s Knowledge Transfer services cover more than you might think. We were recruited to provide a single interface between Scottish physics research and global business opportunities.

By working closely with SUPA research groups and the University Knowledge Transfer Offices, we pro-actively seek funding opportunities for SUPA. In addition, SUPA KE can, for example, find you industrial collaborators and help with your grant applications. With an overview of activity within SUPA, we are especially well-placed to facilitate cross-SUPA collaboration.

Consultancy

If you are interested in consultancy work – providing expert reports for companies and institutions – we can help identify opportunities.

Contract Research

From short feasibility studies to full-scale projects, we can find you companies who are looking for contract research, liaise with the University Knowledge Transfer Offices to help facilitate the contracts and IP considerations, and then manage the project on your behalf.

Collaboration

Large-scale and cutting edge projects are often done in collaboration across many institutions and companies. We can help you put together FP7 and similar funding opportunities, as well as help with project management once the contract has been won.

CPD

High-tech companies can require highly specialised training for their workforce. SUPA KT can organise CPD and other courses devised by researchers and academics.

IP & Licensing

Not all University Knowledge Transfer Offices have staff with Physics backgrounds. We can liaise with the Universities’ Knowledge Transfer Offices and act as champions for your IP, understanding the science as well as the business opportunity. We can also help find potential licensees for patents.
