The EPSRC funded Centre for Doctoral Training on the application of next-generation accelerators is led by the University of Strathclyde and builds on the successes of three Basic Technology Projects to develop and apply next generation accelerators. It will address the grand societal challenges and needs in energy, health and national security. The consortia members include the University of Strathclyde, Queens University Belfast, University of Surrey and the University of Huddersfield and collaborators from industry and academia. The consortium members are world leaders in their fields and have access to internationally competitive facilities. The CDT delivers highly trained people and equips them with the necessary multidisciplinary and business facing skills required in this rapidly developing field. They will gain the benefits of being part of a vibrant and self supporting cohort, and obtain broad experience though collaboration between institutes and across disciplines, and in-depth knowledge through group and individual projects that are intellectually challenging.
