SUPA Advanced Fellowships - Nanocolloids/Nanoparticle Physics

Applications are invited for two Advanced Fellowships funded through the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA), one to be held at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Glasgow (REF 11973/DPL/A3), and the other to be held at the School of Physics and Astronomy, University of St Andrews (REF PS109/06). The Fellows will join a new Scottish collaboration of highly active research groups targeted at addressing some of the principal challenges involved in developing and understanding the properties of nanoparticles, and in exploring their potential applications. Much of the research will be carried out in collaboration with the well-established Soft Matter group at the University of Edinburgh, the whole being one of the key initiatives within SUPA. For the St Andrews position we seek applicants who demonstrate a strong interest in the preparation and synthesis of nanoparticles via colloidal routes. For the position at Glasgow we seek applicants with expertise in nanomagnetism and/or nanoassembly. Applicants for both positions will need to demonstrate both a strong interest in the physics and advanced characterisation of these systems and a serious commitment to interdisciplinary research. £20,044 - £36,959 per annum New closing date: 24 March 2006 (previously 21 February 2006)
