SUPA Chief Executive Officer
Salary in the professorial range
The Scottish Universities Physics Alliance is an exciting, vibrant, research-led academic community offering opportunities to work with leading international academics whose visions are shaping tomorrow’s world.
SUPA is an alliance of eight universities aimed at developing physics in Scotland into a world leading force through pooling resources and planning research strategy nationally. The formation of SUPA has been boosted by a £48M research investment programme over the next seven years funded by the Scottish Funding Council and the constituent universities.
SUPA seeks a scientist of international standing to lead the Alliance, following the retirement of Prof Ian Halliday CBE FRSE, who has been its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) since 2005. The CEO will promote the SUPA branding of Scottish physics, develop its Scotland-wide Graduate School and establish a Scotland-wide Knowledge Exchange programme that maximises the impact of SUPA’s research.
You should have an international track record in any area of Physics or Astronomy research relevant to the SUPA universities, as well as experience and proven success in science management and policy at a senior level. Salary will be at a competitive level for such a senior position, and the post could be held at any one of the eight SUPA Universities. The appointment, which may be full-time or part-time and will be for four years in the first instance, with the possibility of extension for a further four years.
Applications are being handled by the University of Edinburgh on behalf of the consortium. More information about SUPA can be found at http://www.supa.ac.uk.
