Chief Executive Officer - Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA)
SUPA is an alliance of six universities aimed at developing Physics in Scotland into a world leading force by pooling of resource and coherent planning of research strategy. The formation of SUPA has been boosted by a £14M research investment programme funded by the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council (SHEFC), the Office of Science and Technology (OST) and the constituent universities.
We seek a physicist of international standing to lead the Alliance, developing its pooling strategy and the SUPA branding of Scottish Physics, as well as implementing the initial research investment programme, and creating a Scottish Graduate School in Physics.
The successful candidate should have an international track record in any area of Physics or Astronomy research relevant to the SUPA universities, as well as experience and proven success in science management and policy at a senior level. Salary will be at a competitive level for such a senior position, and the post could be held at any one of the six SUPA Universities. The appointment will be for four years in the first instance.
