Lectureship/Readership in Biophotonics (Edinburgh)

Applications are invited for a Lectureship in biophotonics. The post will be associated with the Collaborative Optical Spectroscopy, Micromanipulation and Imaging Centre (COSMIC) which combines ultrafast laser systems, spectroscopy, imaging and optical micromanipulation for diverse applications in chemistry, physics, biology and biomedical sciences. We seek a scientist with a strong research record in one or more of the following areas: lasers/optics, microscopy, spectroscopy, spectral imaging or laser trapping. In all cases, a track record in or at least a commitment to the application of these techniques to specific scientific problems may be an advantage. A commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching is essential, and there will be an opportunity to teach within the new SUPA Graduate School. An exceptional candidate may be appointed at Readership level. The University of Edinburgh is a member of SUPA (http://www.supa.ac.uk), a new trans-institutional alliance that creates a common strategy for physics research across Scotland. A joint theme in biophotonics is being carried forward with our colleagues in partner Universities.
