SUPA's aim is to place Scotland at the forefront of research in Physics through an agreed national strategy, an inter-institutional management structure, and co-ordinated promotion and pursuit of excellence. Through the SUPA initiative, we are expanding our photonics research activity with the appointment of a new Reader/Lecturer and a four-year Advanced Research Fellow. The candidate's research strengths should enhance and extend our current activities in photonics and ideally fall within the SUPA priority areas of biophotonics, industrial interface photonics and photonics at the quantum limit. Appointment to Advanced Fellow, Lecturer or Reader requires clear evidence of a strong research record and a demonstrable ability to undertake independent research. Appointment at the level of Reader demands a strong international reputation and leadership in their research field. Successful candidates will be expected to be committed to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and be prepared to provide support for the SUPA Graduate School which will integrate our postgraduate activities in research and teaching across Scotland.
