Reader/Lecturer in Photonic Materials (Strathclyde)
Applications are sought for a Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA) appointment in the Department of Physics (http://phys.strath.ac.uk), namely a permanent Readership/Lectureship in Photonic Materials. SUPA has been forged by six Scottish Universities with the aim of placing Scotland at the forefront of research in Physics through an agreed national strategy, an inter-institutional management structure, and co-ordinated promotion and pursuit of excellence (www.supa.ac.uk)
The Department's research is organized around three divisions - Materials, Optics and Plasmas - and the candidate's research strengths should enhance and extend the Department's current activities in photonic materials and align with the Materials Division. Although our priority is to appoint a researcher with an excellent track record in this area, outstanding applicants from other areas falling within the SUPA photonics priority areas will be considered.
The primary criteria for appointment will be a strong research record and demonstrable ability to undertake independent research, with some teaching experience giving an advantage. Successful candidates will be expected to be committed to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and be prepared to provide support for the SUPA Graduate School.
Salary: £23,643 - 45,885 per annum.
