Readership/Lectureship in Biophotonics

Applications are invited for a Lectureship in biophotonics, broadly defined. The post will be associated with the Collaborative Optical Spectroscopy, Micromanipulation and Imaging Centre (COSMIC). The Centre's research activities cover diverse problems at the physical-life sciences interface, from single molecules through to whole cells (prokaryotes and eukaryotes), and make use of unique resources in ultrafast laser systems, spectroscopy, imaging and optical micromanipulation. We seek a scientist with a strong research record in relevant scientific areas, a strong commitment to utilising and developing the instrument base in COSMIC, and the ability to contribute towards the ongoing management of the Centre. A commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching is essential, and there will be an opportunity to teach within the new SUPA Graduate School. An exceptional candidate may be appointed at Readership level. You will be expected to play a leadership role in new initiatives in Biophysics within the School and, where appropriate, in collaboration with the Schools of Chemistry and Biological Sciences, and to be a proactive member of SUPA , a new trans-institutional alliance that creates a common strategy for physics research across Scotland. A joint theme in biophotonics is being carried forward with our colleagues in partner Universities. Lecturer AT2A £24352 - £27,929Lecturer AT2B £28,829 - £36,959 Reader AT3 £38,685 - £43,850
