Senior Research Fellow in Photonic Quantum Information Technology

The Institute of Photonics, University of Strathclyde has two vacancies for suitably qualified candidates who have the ability to win funding from both Government and Industrial sponsors to develop independent research programmes in the areas specified below.

The first post is for a researcher to work in Photonic Quantum Information Technology (PQIT). Specifically the candidate’s work should focus on the research and development of photonic micro-fabrication techniques and devices which will enable advances to be made in the field of PQIT; this would include, for example, integrated waveguide circuitry for quantum photonics. Ref JA/R42/2010 (This post is fixed term for 4 years)

The second post is for a researcher to work at the interface between Photonics and the Life Sciences (PALS). Specifically the candidate’s work should focus on the research and development of photonic micro-fabrication techniques and devices which will enable advances in biomedical instrumentation, sensors and applications. Ref JA/R43/2010
(This post is fixed term for 3 years)

These posts are part funded by SUPA (the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance). The candidates will also develop and maintain links across SUPA to establish a coordinated approach to work in these separate sectors. A strong background at postdoctoral level in the appropriate areas of photonics and a good publication record are required.
