Two Advanced Fellowships in Experimental or Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics (St Andrews)
As part of the newly-formed Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA), we are offering two four-year Advanced Fellowships in Experimental or Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics. Our current activities centre on the study of correlated electrons in solids, using a variety of high field / low temperature probes such as transport, magnetisation, nuclear magnetic resonance, electron spin resonance, muon spin rotation and neutron scattering. We seek outstanding candidates near the beginning of their research career who can profit from a position that will allow them individual research freedom within the broad SUPA initiative of Quantum Ordering under Extreme Conditions. The posts are primarily for research, but will include a modest contribution to the School's training activities, so a second key feature of the position is a commitment to excellence and innovation in physics teaching. The start date will be 1 September 2005, or as soon as possible thereafter.
