22 June 2005: Ian Halliday was announced as the new Chief Executive Officer for SUPA on 22nd June 2005.
Ian Halliday announced as new Chief Exectuive Officer for SUPA
On June 22nd, 2005, SUPA announced the selection of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Ian Halliday is a distinguished particle physicist, and has considerable experience in co-ordinating science at international level. Until recently he was CEO of the Particle Physics and Astrophysics Research Council (PPARC). He was also recently nominated as the new President of the European Science Foundation, a post he will undertake part time in combination with running SUPA.
Ian was also awarded and Honorary Degree from the University of Edinburgh. The picture shows Ian in his graduation gown, together with a variety of leading lights in SUPA - Andy Lawrence (Edinburgh), John Chapman (Glasgow), David Birch (Strathclyde), Sandy Cochran (Paisley), and Cameron Rae (St Andrews).
