Reference FormPlease download a SUPA Academic Reference Form and send or give a copy of the form to each of your two referees. There are two formats to choose from:
Academic Reference Form (Word doc) If your referees have Microsoft Word, the .doc version can be completed electronically and emailed to SUPA.

Prize Studentship Application Form Preparation Page
Before you begin the online application process, please read the Application Guide. It contains important information regarding the submission of references and other requirements. You will be asked to confirm that you have read this document. In addition, please read all the information on this page before starting the application process.
All applications for the SUPA Prize Studentships must be made online. The deadline for applications is 31 January 2009.
The SUPA Graduate School invites applications from all candidates whether they are from the UK, EU or overseas.
We expect UK students to apply but departments will fund UK students from DTA/CTA funds etc with SUPA covering any top-up or short-fall costs for UK students as necessary. Note that for a UK student, a SUPA Prize Studentship is more than the minimum Research Council stipend which means that shortlisted UK applicants will be better off financially with a SUPA Studentship and will be given a prestigious ranked ‘titular’ prize to enhance their future career prospects.
Note that applications for a SUPA Prize Studentship will not be accepted from anyone who is already registered as a PhD student at one of the SUPA institutions.
There are four steps in the prize application process:
The form requires you to use a modern web browser with javascript enabled. It would be advisable to update any version you are using to be sure that the process will work smoothly. Details of suitable web browsers are given in the Application Guide and many of these are available as free downloads.
Please do not test the real form in order to see what it contains. The sample form enables you to preview the form before starting your application. It shows each of the five parts of the application form.
When you click on the 'View Sample Form' button below, you will first be taken to an intermediate page and asked to confirm that you have read a few short notes.

Prepare your application thoroughly before attempting the real form.
Once you have read the Application Guide, looked at the sample pages and prepared your submission, you may begin the application. Allow at least one hour to complete the form. Please note that for security reasons the form must be completed in one go - it is not possible to save the form part way through and return to it at a later time. At the end of the process you will be given an application reference number. Make a careful note of this number.
Note that applications for a SUPA Prize Studentship will not be accepted from anyone who is already registered as a PhD student at one of the SUPA institutions.
You are responsible for for ensuring that your two named referees upload their references or send them directly to SUPA by email or by post before the deadline. Your referees will need to know your reference number and quote it on all correspondence. Our email address for references is .
The closing date for applications is 31st January 2009 . Successful applicants will be notified within three months of the closing date. Due to the number of applications received we may be unable to notify unsuccessful candidates. If you have not heard from SUPA with three months of the closing date you may assume that your application has been unsuccessful.
