Keynote Speaker
We're incredibly fortunate this year to have Neil Turok, Director of the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo, Canada, as our keynote speaker. Neil is a South Africa born mathematical physicist, who has made significant contributions to understanding early universe physics, including the cosmological constant and a cyclic model for the universe. He graduated from U.Cambridge and gained his doctorate from Imperial College. He has held appointments at Santa Barbara, Fermi Lab, Princeton and Cambridge, winning the IoP Maxwell Medal for his contributions to theoretical physics. He is responsible for the creation of the AIMS programme (African Institute for Mathematical Sciences), a pan-African network of centres of excellence enabling Africa’s talented students to become innovators driving the continent’s scientific, educational and economic self-sufficiency. He has received a TED Prize, a "Most Innovative People Award," for Social Innovation, at the World Summit on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (WSIE), and a prize from the World Innovation Summit for Education. We're looking forward to a fascinating talk.
